Symbolism in 'Innocence'

Did anyone else get a vague Eve/Pandora's Box -ish vibe from the episode 'Innocence"? Buffy gives into her lusty teen temptations, has sex with Angel, who then loses his soul, and following the loss of her own innocence, unleashes this force of evil unto the world. It seems like she's punished for being with Angel like that, and is responsible, at least indirectly, for all of (evil) Angel's actions. But I also know Joss is a feminist and Buffy is totally about empowering women and not shaming them for their sexuality, and that Angel turning is important to the story arc and stuff. What do you think? Do you find this valuable?

I didn't get that vibe at all. For me the message (if any) would have been that Angel and Buffy will never work, this is true. They are always going through some mega drama, it just makes the stories more interesting. I have seen the special features in my DVD sets and I know there is a message, and that would be that women and girls do not have to be Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice (heaven knows I'm NOT) ...that we are capable of much more than our society, as well as many others, dictate. We should always push the envelope and never stop trying. Do you find this valuable?
