Fool For Love is my favorite episode, but I'm guessing that might be kind of obvious. I realize this might be a strange choice as it really does not advance the plot of the show and there are, admittedly, better episodes out there. However, I am someone who likes to know everything about everything and the fact that the episode is completely about Spike's backstory makes it that much better. They way that they show how he changed from William the poet to Spike the vampire is brilliant. I love how they showed how he adopted or gained all of his trademark features. I also like how uncomfortable he makes Buffy feel in this episode. He is one to say how it is and usually she does not let it affect her, but when he talks about her having a death wish you can see it clearly bothers her. Also, the heartbreaking moment of seeing souless Spike cry. When Buffy tells him he is beneath her I couldn't believe it, well I guess I could, but I was still shocked. Way to take one of his most devastating memories and use it against him. Finally, when he goes to her house with the gun intending to kill her, but instead finds himself comforting her and her letting him foreshadows whats to come. Now there is one thing I don't like about the episode and that is that his chip never activates when he is showing how he fought Nikki. I realize they wrote it off as if he had no intention of harming her it wouldn't activate, but I think that's a stretch. I really am not a big fan of the chip storyline, but the fact is that it exists and it should remained consistent until it was removed. I also love the connection it makes with Angel's episode, Darla.
